An invitation link to book in for our Term 4, Week 1, Wednesday (2-10-24) offering of Parent/Carer and Teacher interviews was sent to your registered email early last week. These will be held in the School Hall. This is a great opportunity to meet with your child's teacher and find out more about how to help your child progress, before the reporting period closes at the end of this term. The system supports multiple bookings so you can map out your times if you have more than one child at school.
Term 4 Swimming Lessons:
Starting in Week 3 (Mon 14/10) for Prep to year 2 students, we have our annual set of swimming lessons for every child in the school. You will receive a permission, payment and information letter home soon, to confirm in more detail. In line with the Queensland Education Department’s P–12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework, Queensland state schools are required to provide a water safety and swimming education program for all students in Prep to Year 6. Schools are encouraged to implement the program as part of the delivery of the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education. We follow these expectations and are provided with a small amount of funding which we direct towards providing skilled swimming instructors, which directly reduces the cost for parents.
Students in Year 3-6 will have their lessons commence in Week 4. These lessons culminate in our annual Swimming Carnival, which is hotly contested each year. This will take place in Week 7 on Thu 14/11 for our Junior Carnival and Fri 15/11 for our Senior Carnival.
Year 3/4 Overnight at School 'Camp' - This Friday! Please ensure you complete and return the permission form. Students are not required to attend; however we encourage you to think of this as a great opportunity for social development and confidence builder. The Year 3/4 teachers and Mrs Nash will be staying overnight with your children in the school hall as we all enjoy pizza and a movie, with spotlighting for wildlife and team building games. For those who are staying overnight, we will all have breakfast together before starting the long weekend that follows!
2025 Strategic Planning. In Week 2, I will attend the Strategic Planning days for our school, taking several staff with me to collaborate on our next steps forward. We will share this draft vision with the P&C this term so please attend the meetings so that you can stay informed and have a say in Kilcoy State School's future!

Year 4: 86.45%
Year 5: 90.15%

If your child will be absent, please make sure you call the absence line on (07) 5422 3366 to let us know why they are away so that it can be recorded accurately.
Our goal is for every child to be in attendance, every day.
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
Our Term 4 focus is: Respect
In the last column below, you can read the school-wide positive behaviour expectations required of students, for them to demonstrate 'Respect'. Each week, our students have lessons explicitly teaching them what it means to show respect at our school. We believe these lessons are universally important and will contribute to our students being well-prepared for life as a respect citizen.
P&C News
Hello Families,
As we move into term 4, we as a committee start thinking about 2025 and the goals we want to achieve and how we want to support the students. This also means that our executive positions become available to be applied for. Our AGM is in February/March, and this is where we welcome our new executives. If is this something you think you'd be interested in applying for - President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer - We invite you to attend our meetings in Term 4 so you can see the roles each of these positions does. If an executive position doesn't catch your eye, please consider becoming a member. Parent support is needed when we hold events, fundraisers or support the school with their events and if we don't have the support or manpower, these events just can't happen.
Our next P&C Meeting is on Wed 2/10 at 4.00pm in the Resource Centre (similar time to the Parent Teacher Interviews just next door so you can just drop in for some or all of it). We hope to see you there.
