Principal's welcome
Dear Parents and Carers
We were delighted to see so many parents and carers join us for our 2025 Interhouse Cross Country last week! Congratulations to Somerset House for the overall win. It was a very close call this year. Enjoyably, we saw many students showing their true colours helping others have success and cheering their team on.
Our School Review commences this week, and we are pleased to welcome Dr David Cramb and his team of reviewers to our school for the next four days. They are very approachable people so if you see them at the school gate, feel free to say hello. they'd love to speak with you.
We are encouraging all parents to consider attending our next P&C Meeting on Wednesday 7th May in the Resource Centre at 3.30pm. The P&C are an incredibly important voice in our school direction and contribute to major decisions made at school that benefit all students.
Our P&C Team are also holding a Mother's Day Stall on Monday 6/5/25 where students can bring in some money to purchase a gift for their mother or a special person in their lives.
School Photos Reminder: School photos will be taken on Tuesday 13/5/25. Please have your child wear their formal shirt (if owned), or their green and gold polo.
Breakfast Club: If you are able to help make toast or cut fruit for about 30-45mins in the morning on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday from 8.15am, we would dearly love your help. We are also looking for donations of honey, vegemite and strawberry jam. Donations can be left at the school office or brought directly to Breakfast Club in the hall.
Attendance Check: Our current whole school attendance rate is 91.7%. Our goal is 95%. If your child is reluctant to attend or you would like assistance in this area, please make contact with the office on 5422 3333 to make an appointment.
Kind regards, Mrs Belinda Nash.

Support Teacher: Literacy and Numeracy.
Across the school, students are reading and learning to write information texts as part of their English unit this term. In Year 1, students have been buzzing with excitement as they explore the world of bees - what bees look like, what they do, and their life cycle. Over the past week, they’ve been forming and writing their own sentences about bees, building confidence in small group activities that help them become more independent writers.
Students are learning how to use punctuation correctly, match verbs with their subjects, and use plural nouns properly. They’re also building a strong vocabulary and learning how to write strong sentences using the right parts of speech – including pronouns.
Below is a photo of the Year 1 A Learning Wall, which is helping students understand what an information report is. The wall shows the key words and grammar they’ve been using and acts as a helpful visual guide as they write.
We’re proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see what facts they write about next!

Inclusion Support news - NCCD
The 2025 National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) collection window is coming up quickly. The NCCD is an initiative used in schools to gather data on students with disabilities and ensure that their educational needs are met equitably across the nation. Kilcoy State School works hard to complete this to a high standard, to ensure we are able to access all available support for our students.
One of the key outcomes of the NCCD is the identification of students who require additional support due to disability- whether it be diagnosed or imputed. This process involves assessment and collaboration between educators, parents, and relevant specialists to determine the specific adjustments and accommodations needed to facilitate each student's learning experience.
By analysing trends and patterns, we can refine our support services, implement targeted interventions, and allocate resources more effectively to ensure that no child is left behind. Through this approach, we strive to create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
